120 new Irisbus buses for Ente Autonomo Volturno

Turin, 3 April 2009

On 2nd April during a visit to the Irisbus Iveco plant in Valle Ufita, the regional councillor for transport Ennio Cascetta and Alessando Rizzardi, the sole director of Ente Autonomo Volturno, announced the regional investment of 33 million Euros for the purchase of 120 new buses.  The vehicles will be equipped with Euro 5 diesel engines and include the following models: 95 10 metre Citelis, 5  12 metre Citelis and 20 9 metre Europolis.

The agreement protocol comes under the four-yearly contract of 2006 which makes provision for 1940 new buses, from various manufacturers, that EAV will distribute to the reginal transport companies by 2010.

Irisbus Iveco has already delivered 363 units in recent years and, thanks to the second contract activated for the order of these 120 buses, they will also manage to overcome the slow down in production in the plant, as Enrico Vassallo Managing Director of Irisbus Iveco underlined when he accompanied the councillor on his visit.

After the visit there was a meeting at the Avellino General Confederation of Italian Industry headquarters presided over by the Chairman, Silvio Sarno which also included trade union representatives who expressed their satisfaction and appreciation over this new agreement.
