New Ecobus Citelis EEV for the city of Turin

Turin, 18 January 2010

Twenty new Irisbus Iveco city buses, on display in Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Turin, were presented on Saturday, January 16th to the local authorities by Iveco CEO Paolo Monferino and by Giancarlo Guiati and Tommaso Panero, President and CEO of GTT, the city's public transport company.

The ceremony was attended by the President of Regione Piemonte, Mercedes Bresso, by the Mayor of Turin, Sergio Chiamparino, by the regional councilor for transport and infrastructure, Daniele Borioli and by Maria Grazia Sestero, city councilor.

The twenty vehicles are part of the order of one hundred new Citelis  buses that Irisbus Iveco has delivered in December to GTT.

Citelis buses have a very low environmental impact, equipped with diesel engines Cursor 8 FPT, 213 KW (290 HP) with a particulate filter that allows to achieve emissions far below EEV (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle) requirements. A Citelis EEV pollutes twenty times less than a Euro 0 bus and ten times less than a Euro 1 vehicle, which still represent a good percentage of the bus fleet in Piedmont. If we analyze the emissions of particulates, the difference is even greater, since a Euro 0 vehicle alone is like 100 Citelis EEV SCRT.

The hundred GTT new buses that are now in service in Turin are 12 meters long, have 3 doors, an air conditioning system for passengers and driver, LED path indicators, a video surveillance system with three internal cameras, a panel information system to announce stops to passengers, a manual wheelchair access ramp for the disabled and a maximum capacity of  100 passengers with 24 seats and a wheelchair space.
