Unveiled: the Magelys HDH, a new Gran Turismo bus in the Iveco Irisbus range

Turin, 28 September 2009

The international press got their first glimpse of the Magelys HDH, the latest addition to the Irisbus Iveco Gran Turismo Irisbus range. With its three axles, a length of 13.80 m and a height of 3.81, it really is the pride of the fleet.

The Magelys HDH is a high version of the vehicle launched two years ago to meet the many needs of Gran Turismo transport companies. The Magelys HD, offered in two different lengths (12.20 m, 12.80 m) and a height of 3.62 m, is the official  Juventus FC team bus.

The idea is based on the principle that a bus trip should never be simply a means of transporting passengers from A to B. A bus should offer a space that makes long road and motorway journeys a satisfying and safe experience for all in the greatest comfort, where the pleasure of interacting with others is combined with respect for individual needs.

The distinctive features of the Magelys are skilfully expressed in its exclusive design, a crucial differentiating aspect that reinforces the premium vocation of this bus. Inside and outside, stylistic motifs  blend form and function harmoniously to create a dimension of timeless elegance.

To confirm the great attention devoted to passengers, the thing that most strikes you about the interior is firstly the amount of light and openness to the outside world – and secondly the beautifully blended materials and colours, subtly recreating the relaxing and stress-free atmosphere of a lounge where you can enjoy some time with your friends.

The great feeling of space and transparency that reigns aboard the Magelys is guaranteed by oceans of glass on the side connection panels (standard equipment) and a central roof window (an option) that can increase the tinted glass surface area to 65% more than that on an ordinary bus, thus increasing the visibility and light.

One of Iveco Irisbus’s greatest concerns when designing the Magelys was to meet safety requirements with as broad a margin as possible. Passive safety is guaranteed by the sturdy body structure, which ensures a survival space in the event of rollover in accordance with the provisions of European directive R66, and also by the general accident-proof design of the passenger compartment.

The Magelys is produced in the Irisbus Iveco plant in Annonay, France and is particularly eco-friendly with its Euro 5 engine (EEV optional) with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology. The engine is a mighty six-cylinder Iveco Cursor 10 engine with a power rating of 330 kW (450 HP) that ensures excellent hourly averages over long distances.
